so it can be named a winner in this year's ‘The People’s Projects’ National Lottery fund – Make sure you have your say!

WATCH the film of the Wellbeing Cafe Project featuring The Crop Club online and on ITV on Friday 20th April from 6pm and VOTE with family and friends.

At the Crop Club, we want to support The Wellbeing Project to win The People’s Project because of the positive impact the initiative has on people living in Loughborough who experience mental health issues and we are keen to support them to reach more people across Leicestershire and Rutland. Loughborough Wellbeing Centre supports adults suffering from mental health issues through discussion and workshops. For the Crop Club, COMMUNITY WELLBEING is what drives us to get more people to experience the joy of growing and reconnect with nature. Gardening and connecting with nature is strongly linked to improving wellbeing and reducing anxiety. We had the chance to deliver a workshop with the centre and winning the funding will enable more workshops on the Joy of Growing to be initiated across the county.

VOTING For the Wellbeing Café Project is Voting for Wellbeing. As Helen Carter, Project Manager and Director at Loughborough Wellbeing Centre says:

“Poor mental health can affect anyone of us at any time, there is not one of us whose lives haven’t been touched by a friend or relative suffering from mental health difficulties".

“This is an exciting opportunity to raise awareness and support for our work and, with your help, to secure further much-needed funding. If successful, our project will make a real difference to mental health sufferers in Leicestershire and Rutland by providing support, giving them somewhere to go that is safe, supportive and where they can make new friends".

“No one should have to suffer in silence from poor mental health and helping us to secure this important funding will mean less people have to. We really do need your help and in voting for us you can make a real difference locally.”

On Friday 20th April 2018, Loughborough Wellbeing Centre will showcase its Wellbeing Café Project on ITV Central East regional news, at 6pm at St Peters Centre on Storer Road, Loughborough. To be in with a chance of winning, Loughborough Wellbeing Centre is calling on viewers to support its bid. You can vote from now until the 30th April at www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk.

The funding will provide additional people to run the cafes across Leicestershire and Rutland, supervise volunteers and provide a range of fun and interactive sessions. The funding will also provide Mental Health First Aid training for volunteers and workers as well as additional café equipment and materials for activities, providing a welcoming and fun atmosphere for people.

The People's Project is now in its 13th year, the Big Lottery Fund, ITV and The National Lottery are teaming up to give the public a chance to decide how National Lottery funding should be put to good use in their local area.

Designed to celebrate some of the incredible projects the Big Lottery Fund has supported over the past year, 95 community-based schemes are now shortlisted across the UK. In each region, the three with the most public votes will receive grants of up to £50,000. This will help them to continue their work to improve local people’s lives. The entire amount up for grabs across the UK is a life-changing £3 million.

Since 2005, around £39 million has been awarded through the Big Lottery Fund, National Lottery and ITV/STV partnership to 865 Good Causes across the UK.

Voting closes at midday on Monday 30 April 2018. People can vote once per region and will need an email address to vote*. To support the Wellbeing Café Project and for Ts & Cs please visit www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk
